Toybrary Playground Austin

Before our play date last week, I had only heard of this magical place called Toybrary Austin. In fact, I truly thought it was only a lending library for toys, and not necessary a play place for kids. I am pleased to say that I was so very wrong, and Toybrary totally blew away my expectations.

We kicked off our visit with Miss Ariel’s music class, which is held weekly on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Toybrary. My boys loved it as we played maracas, bounced like bunnies, and sang several of our favorite songs. For only $10 you can enjoy the music class and then play the rest of the day.

While the classes are awesome and fun, I love Toybrary because it’s Toybrary Review Austindesigned for moms to catch a much-needed break. You can drop in anytime, pay $7, and let your kiddo “stay and play” as long as his little heart desires. Meanwhile, you can lounge in one of Toybrary’s soft, cushy chairs, enjoy a coffee, and maybe catch up on some reading or chat with a new mom friend. The really great thing about Toybrary is that you can see your child anywhere in the building; there is no need to chase him around – let him run free!

In addition to the free play, members can actually check out toys to take home. Toybrary offers a variety of membership options that allow you to take 3 toys home at each visit. Just like a library book, when you bring the toys back you can check out 3 more. This is not only a great idea for keeping the kiddos entertained, but just think about how many toys this keeps out of the landfill. Toybrary also takes sterilization very seriously, and uses green, kid-friendly products to clean the toys upon return.

One of Toybrary Austin’s best kept secrets is that they offers Drop-Off Review of Toybrary in AustinChildcare at only $10 per hour for 1 – 5 year olds. This is especially great for when the nanny calls in sick or preschool is closed. You leave your kiddos with Toybrary’s staff, and you can catch up on work in their private room – it’s the original Austin coworking space for moms. Toybrary also has free coffee for moms that pay for child care plus free wifi so you can get caffeinated and then get things done.

Seriously, the owner Liza Wilson has thought of it all. A former educator, Liza has created an enriching and enjoyable environment for moms and their littles at Toybrary Austin. We can’t wait to go back!
